Greeter/Visitor Desk

Each exhibit building has a visitor desk where Volunteers welcome and greet the Visitors in the Museum. The Volunteer is there to assist visitors any way necessary. The Volunteers in this position also walk the floors of the Museum while Visitors are present to help keep a watchful eye. The hours for this position are 7 days a week 9:00am-5:00pm. The morning shift is 9:00am-1:00pm and the afternoon shift is 1:00pm-5:00pm. Volunteers can work one or more 4 hour shifts. No military or aviation experience is required. Training is provided on the job.

Volunteers are also needed who that can work on an as-needed basis especially on weekends, when regular Volunteers are absent.

Tour Guide

Volunteers in this position conduct tours of the Museum for groups associated with the Military, whether active duty, retired or civilian or any other group or individual that would be considered a VIP. Knowledge of aircraft is helpful, however, training can be provided.

Archives/Library

The Volunteers in this position perform tasks in the Archives and Library section of the Museum. This Volunteer works under direction of the Curator. The hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. Hours worked by Volunteers are agreed upon between the Volunteer and Curator.

Aircraft Restoration

Volunteers in this position work under direction of the Head of Restoration or his appointee. Volunteers in this position need to have mechanical, sheet metal or aircraft frame experience. Hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 7:00am-3:00pm, and Saturday mornings 9:00am-12:00pm. Hours worked by Volunteers are agreed upon between the Volunteer and Restoration staff.

Education Tour Guide

The Volunteers in this position work under the direction of the Education Department’s Tour Guide Coordinator. Volunteers give 1.5 hours history based tours to groups of various ages. The groups range in age from elementary to high school and occasionally adult. The tours are conducted based on a predetermined itinerary. The hours for this position are Tuesday thru Saturday usually between the hours of 9:00am-2:00pm.
